The 10–20KB band is the most common signature rule on Indian exam forms. This lands you inside it, at the right shape, in one step.
Why a band and not a single number
A minimum stops people uploading a blurry thumbnail that cannot be verified at the exam centre. A maximum stops the portal filling up with multi-megabyte camera photos. Between them sits a narrow window, and a phone photo of a signature lands nowhere near it — a typical one is 2 to 4 megabytes, roughly two hundred times too large.
Compressing blindly usually overshoots in the other direction, leaving you at 6 or 7KB and a “file too small” error. The tool above aims for the middle of the band instead, around 15KB, which clears both ends comfortably.
Getting the shape right too
Most forms that specify 10–20KB also specify roughly 6cm × 2cm — a wide strip, about three times wider than tall. A square crop fails validation even at a perfect file size. Pick your exam in the tool and both rules are applied together.
